Giggs hands-off for first Man Utd training session in charge

Ryan Giggs' first training session in charge at Manchester United was strictly hands-off yesterday.

The Daily Mail says Giggs let Nicky Butt and Phil Neville take Tuesday's session, preferring to oversee things from afar. It is understood another old United team-mate, Paul Scholes, will come back into the fold after distancing himself from former manager David Moyes.

There was certainly a different mood around Carrington. While many staff - not least Moyes's goalkeeping coach Chris Woods, who escaped the axe - were feeling awkward, the players had an extra spring in their step.

Afterwards, Giggs sat with Neville, Woods and fitness coach Mike Strudwick as he looked ahead to his first game, against Norwich at Old Trafford on Saturday.
