Giggs: 8-year FA Cup drought too long for Man Utd

Ryan Giggs admits Manchester United have gone too long without winning the FA Cup.

The Manchester United veteran, 39, admits he is lucky because he has four wins to his name.

But only two other team-mates have savoured a Cup triumph - Paul Scholes and Robin van Persie, who won it with Arsenal.

Now, on the eve of the fifth-round clash with Reading, Giggs says it is time to put matters right.

He said: "We haven't had a good record the last few seasons. And it's a shame for Rio Ferdinand and the others because it still has that magic.

"So there is real determination to win it this year. We've a great history in the competition but in the last 10 years we definitely haven't done ourselves justice.

"We've had tough draws but probably haven't produced at the right time either. So everyone is keen to get back to Wembley this season - and not just in the Champions League final.

"It will be difficult because there are a lot of good teams still left in it. But I know it's a brilliant trophy if you can go all the way.

"So we definitely want to stay in it as long as possible this time. We don't want a weekend when the FA Cup is on and we are not playing."
