Gibson: Man Utd strikers must take chances

Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson was left disappointed after their Champions League defeat to Besiktas.

United suffered defeat in Europe for the first time in 24 games, despite dominating possession for much of the match.

"I think we played well in the first half," Gibson told MUTV. "We deserved to score but we were a bit unlucky.

"Kiko [Macheda] and Danny [Welbeck] played well up front but we needed to take our chances."

Wednesday's result now means Sir Alex Ferguson's men need a win or a draw to guarantee top spot when United travel to Wolfsburg next month.

"It's very important to finish top because you get to play your second leg away from home in the next round," Gibson said. "But I think we'll be all right at Wolfsburg. If we go there and play well then we'll win."
