Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs broken metatarsal ruled the full back out of action for three months. The England U21 international sustained the injury in the closing stages of Tuesday's Champions League win over Standard Liege.

It means Armand Traore is likely to deputise at left-back for Sunday's showdown with Chelsea at Emirates Stadium.

Boss Arsene Wenger said: "Kieran had surgery this morning and the surgeon gave us a good report that he did not need any metal in his foot.

"The first metatarsal is broken, which is very rare. He will be out for at least three months."
