Marco Giampaolo has been officially welcomed to Catania as new coach.
Giampaolo replaces Serb tactician Sinisa Mihajlovic who Fiorentina are expected to appoint later this week.
"I have to say thanks to the President and director of sport for the confidence that they have shown in me," Giampaolo said. "In the last few years there has been contact with Catania, but then we went down different paths.
"What has struck me from observing Catania from the outside is the great job the club's directors have done.
"The construction of a sports centre is the emblem of the ambitions and projects of this club.
"My ambition is that of working well in a club for many years if there are the right conditions. The relations between the club and I will be built day after day.
"It's impossible to say right now how satisfied I am with the current squad. From a technical point of view I have to say that it's fundamental that there is a structure in place."
