Francesco Ghirelli is favourite for the vacant sports director's post at Napoli.
The former FIGC chief is a close ally to Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis and actually recommended the appointment of Pierpaolo Marino, who was sacked this week.
Ghirelli also convinced the president about replacing Edy Reja with Roberto Donadoni last season.
