Ghanaian striker Oduro re-signs with Columbus Crew

Columbus Crew have secured the services of striker Dominic Oduro.

The 28-year old Ghanaian produced a stellar season in his first with the Crew, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists, which has prompted the Ohio club to sign him to a new deal amid interest from clubs in Europe.

"Dominic is the most explosive player in the League, and he will play an important role in our plans moving forward," said Crew head coach Gregg Berhalter.

"There was lot of competition for Dominic's signature, but he wanted to stay in Columbus, and when a coach hears that it's a great feeling. We're very happy to get this deal done and we look forward to seeing him back with the club in preseason training."

Berhalter added: "I'm pretty sure there was interest from Scandanavia, from Greece, and I'm pretty sure there was interest from some of the Arabic countries. Supposedly there were legitimate offers out there for him."

Oduro joined the Crew from Chicago Fire via a trade in February this year following other MLS spells with FC Dallas, New York Red Bulls and Houston Dynamo.
