Gerrard urges Suarez to stay loyal to Liverpool

Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard has urged Luis Suarez to stay loyal to the club.

Though Gerrard would not disclose the team, it is understood there was serious interest from subsequent Champions League winners Bayern Munich 12 months ago. But, unlike in 2004 and 2005, when Chelsea pursued him, the thought of leaving never crossed his mind. He hopes Suarez will stay loyal too.

"I've been through that," said Gerrard. "That is the message for Luis. Move on if you want, down the line. But a player of his calibre should wait for the big one. He deserves to play for one of the best teams in the world, Barcelona or Real Madrid.

"They will come calling for him again. I hope from a biased point of view he gives us another year and shows us the form he did last season. Maybe it will be time for him to go next year or a year after. I don't think it is the right time for him to go just yet."
