Gerrard says England team will get behind fans after postponed Poland fixture

England players will help the team's supporters cover costs for yesterday's postponed World Cup qualifier with Poland.

The Football Association failed to acknowledge the fans who showed up in Warsaw for the Group H fixture which was rescheduled for today with the Three Lions holding the Poles to a 1-1 draw.

Torrential rain in Warsaw forced the clash to be moved from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon with the Polish Football Federation confirming they would refund ticket costs to those unable to attend this evening's rescheduled match and now the FA have got on board with help from the players.

The FA and the England Footballers Foundation (EFF) have agreed to cover the costs of those fans who did remain in Poland's capital to attend.

"The team really appreciate the support we receive away from home," said England skipper Steven Gerrard.

"We know that fans have spent money and taken time off work to travel to Poland and we don't take it for granted.

"The supporters have the complete respect of the whole squad."
