Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard was happy to lead England to victory over Estonia yesterday.
"Now we can go to Russia with confidence - we will be ready for it. We expect a difficult game.
"We will be playing on a different surface and one we are not used to.
"We beat them comfortably at Wembley but they showed on the counter-attack they have decent players. We have to make sure we're up for it.
"Russia will be a real test. It's vital we can get the result. We've got to be on our toes.
"Joe Cole was very impressive against Estonia. He is very skilful and is capable of getting himself out of some very tight situations.
"He is doing a great job for us out there on the left.
"But it's not about individuals on Wednesday night. To get the reward we will need a big, big team performance."
