Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard says they need to make new signings if they're to challenge Manchester United for the Premiership title.

"Manchester United's squad is deeper than ours, we know that, and we have to be realistic," said Gerrard.

"But if we can add two or three quality players to what we already have, we will be at their level. The summer reinforcements will be essential."
