Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard was left impressed with Chelsea's performance in the 2-1 Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

The Blues were deserved winners at the Wanda Metropolitana on Wednesday night, and after the game, Gerrard claimed that even the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona have failed to dominate Atletico in the same manner.

"To be fair to Chelsea, that's the first time I've seen this Atletico Madrid defensive unit get torn apart," he said on BT Sport.

"I've never seen a team, even Real Madrid and Barcelona, I've never seen those two sides, who are the best in the world, do that to an Atletico Madrid team.

"So it was some performance."
