Steven Gerrard will enter new contract talks with Liverpool later this week.
The Daily Star says the Kop skipper's current deal expires at the end of the season meaning he will be free to speak to other clubs in January.
Gerrard, 34, had a meeting with boss Brendan Rodgers recently but his representatives will now speak with club officials.
Both parties are keen to come to a swift agreement as a number of Premier League clubs monitor the situation.
