Steven Gerrard has questioned Liverpool's transfer policy. Anfield's American owners have made no secret they want to see their transfer business centre on youngsters.

But Gerrard, 32, insisted: "The main example at the moment is if Chelsea don't keep Frank Lampard someone is going to get a bargain. What is he, 34?

"I can understand the policy that everyone wants young, bright, players but I don't agree that it should be the only way."
