The former German international who played at the 1982, 1986 and 1990 World Cups, took over the Kyushu club in 2007 following its relegation from the top flight.
The club currently sits in tenth out of 15.
Littbarski led Sydney FC to the first Australian A-League title in 2006 but left after just one season.
