German football expert: Plenty more like Brighton bargain Gross

A former teammate of Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross has said there are plenty more players like him in Germany.

The midfielder has been a revelation for the Seagulls singer arriving from Inglostadt for just £3million. He has bagged five goals and eight assists so far this season.

And Ralph Gunesch, who now commentates in England for German television and played over 14 years across different tiers of the Bundesliga, believes there are more talents to be found for English clubs.

He said: "I'm really happy for Pascal and I know that he is also very happy and pleased with his situation.

"It was a hard switch for him but I think he did it very well.

"His first winter without a break was a tough challenge but he enjoyed playing every three days.

"I'd say he has performed exactly how I hoped and expected in ideal circumstances.

"It's very difficult if your team doesn't perform but Brighton have spent the whole season above the relegation zone."

Gunesch added: "There are more like him. Pascal's replacement at Ingolstadt, Sonny Kittel, is nearly the same type of player but I would say has even better technique.

"And, in 1.Bundesliga, take a look at Phillip Max at FC Augsburg. He is a player like (Tottenham right-back Kieran) Trippier.
