Geremi has been impressed by Newcastle manager Sam Allardyce's work in the summer market.

The Cameroon ace, a free transfer from Chelsea, told the Evening Chronicle: "Mark [Viduka] and Alan [Smith] have settled in well here and they have been great signings for us.

"They have plenty of experience and are looking fit. Hopefully they will be ready for Bolton.

"It is good we have Cacapa and Jose [Enrique] coming in - we needed defenders and they will improve our squad.

"We have a lot of ambition this season and we need these kind of players to improve.

"The manager wants to win things and it will mean a lot to him to do so.

"It will also mean a lot for the club in general too. There are new people at the club and it is important for all of us.

"We want to start on the right foot and get some momentum early on.

"The start of the season is vital for us and we want to begin it well."
