Gerba hoping to sort out Montreal Impact situation

Ali Gerba is hoping he can resolve his current situation with Montreal Impact so he can get on with playing soccer according to his agent.

The 30-year old Cameroon-born Canada international is still under contract at Montreal but is unlikely to be a part of the franchise's inaugural MLS playing roster in 2012.

His representative, Courtney James, revealed that his client was in a difficult position and made it clear that if he has to sit out of the squad whilst continuing to be paid, then he may just do that.

"Ali's owned by the Impact and he's not going anywhere," James told the Montreal Gazette. "He's not going to be part of MLS season as a Montreal Impact player.

"What they wish to do with him is up to them at this point. Ali is just sitting there ... waiting for the next move."

"There's not much more we can do at this point," James addedd. "You have to understand from Ali's point of view that he could walk out of his contract, but then he's walking out on pay, right?

"Montreal made it clear that if he wants to leave he could walk out, but if he wants to get paid he can sit down and get paid.

"Ali's like everybody else in the world who have to get paid and have to support families. Ali is doing what's best for his family at this point. Soccer is his passion, but without finances, I don't think anyone can survive."
