Barcelona are actively polishing their young diamond, Gerard Deulofeu.

The 17 year-old winger has made his first team debut for Barca this season, though sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta says he's far from the finished article.

Deulofeu has been likened to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, but Barca management want him to be smarter on the ball.

"We must teach him to make the best decision," said Zubi. "Only Messi can be dribbling against three players at once. He must learn when to seek one on one and when to give the ball," said Zubi.

"He also needs to improve his defensive game, which he is working on."
