Gera on verge of another West Brom return

Zoltan Gera insists he is just around the corner from returning to the West Bromwich Albion line-up.

The Hungarian midfielder is on the mend from a second serious knee injury, sustained in January, and could be back when the Baggies meet Arsenal in the Capital One Cup next Wednesday.

"I've got good news, I played again today," Gera wrote on his official Facebook page after playing in a bounce match against Swindon Town.

"We had a friendly game against Swindon and I needed it very much because the next Under 21 game will be only on the 30th.

"Each minute I spend on the pitch is as valuable as gold for me. I played 75 minutes and we won 1-0.

"I could've scored two or three goals but I wasn't lucky. No problem, I'm not impatient and what's important is that things are going well.

"I hope next Wednesday I'll be in the senior squad against Arsenal in the League Cup."
