Ecuador defender Geovanny Espinoza is in England for a medical at Birmingham City.

The Birmingham Mail says his $600,000 transfer to Blues from Barcelona Sporting Club on a two-year contract was expected to be ratified after the results of the tests came through and were checked.

Espinoza, 32, was targeted to provide another option for manager Alex McLeish.
