Geovanni: God led me to Hull City

Geovanni has revealed how a message from God convinced him about joining Hull City.

Geovanni said: "I am a Christian and I believe in God. Most of the things that happen in my life are down to him, he helps me with everything that happens in my life.

"People have asked me about the goals at Arsenal and Tottenham and I work hard on my shooting, I work on my own after training for this kind of thing.

"But I also feel that God helped me, I'm very religious and believe I can ask for God's help any time I need it. But it's also down to the hard work I do."

Geovanni was left without a club when his one-year contract at City was not renewed by new boss Mark Hughes this summer.

Newly-promoted Hull and their manager Phil Brown did a good job persuading him and he signed on - to the surprise of some of his friends.

But he added: "A lot of people asked me why I had come to Hull. My friends, people at other clubs, said to me 'why Hull City?'

"But I feel it was the Hand of God at the time guiding me and saying to me 'That's where you should go'. I want to feel happy and I know now that I am happy.

"I believe it was God's direction which said to me 'Go to Hull, do your job.' I have very strong beliefs in God."
