Toon only managed one senior signing this summer, QPR striker Loic Remy - on-loan. In contrast, Sunderland welcomed their twelfth and thirteenth additions in Andrea Dossena and Fabio Borini yesterday.
For the moment, however, Newcastle are still sitting above Sunderland on the table.
