AA Gent chief Michel Louwagie has defended their asking price for Moses Simon.
The Nigeria winger has been linked with a move to the Premier League, where West Brom and Newcastle United have been mentioned as suitors.
Gent are demanding €20 million for Simon, a valuation which has been criticised.
But Louwagie rapped: "Why not? If we were in the Netherlands the amounts would be over €30 million. Where is Memphis Depay now? With a lot of hype, PSV sold him to Manchester United.
"Vincent Jansson, the leading goalscorer of AZ, has gone to Tottenham and played barely a minute on the field. Is his returns better than Simon? We need to stop glorifying the Netherlands.
"The trend is reversed: Wilfred Ndidi in January..."
