Genoa rejected a major offer from Inter Milan yesterday for striker Rodrigo Palacio.
Genoa had been willing to release Palacio, but only if they found a suitable replacement, namely the Viola and Italy hitman.
"Palacio will stay at Genoa because of President Enrico Preziosi, who turned down a 10m offer from Inter," revealed director of sport Stefano Capozucca on TMW.
"As he remains with us, this rules out the arrival of Gilardino to Genoa. As for Maxi Lopez, we never even negotiated for him."
