Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has shot down talk of a move for Newcastle United striker Michael Owen.

"There was never any contact," he said. "I do not understand where this news has come from. We have Diego Milito here.

"And if Diego was to be injured, we'd go back to the market, but only to sign a young striker - and with interesting potential. "
