Genoa president Enrico Preziosi hopes the appointment of Gigi de Canio will inspire their players to start climbing the table.

Preziosi reflected on what he hopes De Canio can bring to the Grifone's troubled situation.

"I do not believe in miracles," began the club President on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

"The only miracle lies in finding our values - we have lost ambition, confidence and peace of mind. We don't deserve this League position on the basis of the individual quality in our squad.

"I have asked for De Canio to bring in serenity and spirit. We must fight for these last few games."
