Genoa president Preziosi blasts players union

Genoa president Enrico Preziosi has slammed the local players' union for wrecking the game.

Preziosi says clubs have been treated poorly since the union have gained increased power.

He said: "I think over the past few years players have consolidated this culture of being owed something rather than them having a sense of duty towards the clubs.

"The Players' Association ought to carefully evaluate the needs of the clubs too. I'd hate to see the unions force businesses into closing down with unreasonable behaviour. They need to act as a go-between.

"We had a similar situation with Anthony Vanden Borre. He already had an agreement with Lecce and was choosing his house by the sea when he stepped outside into his car for a minute and ran away.

"We too will try to take his case to the authorities, but if the unions defend these sorts of absurd rights, then everything will fall apart."
