Genoa have formally named Alberto Malesani as new coach.

Last night, confirmed the appointment on their website.

It had been known for some time that former Bologna boss Malesani had been chosen to replace Davide Ballardini.

He beat competition from Delio Rossi to take the job, but President Enrico Preziosi delayed the formal announcement.
