Genoa face stiff competition for Tottenham winger Giovani dos Santos.

The Daily Mail says Giovani is set to snub interest from his native Mexico and join Genoa in January.

Giovani has flopped since his £4.7m move from Barcelona in 2008 and has spent time on loan at Ipswich and Galatasaray.

He impressed in the World Cup with Mexico but has failed to transfer that form to the Premier League.

Chivas had been hopeful of taking Giovani back to Mexico but Serie A side Genoa have made a move and look to be heading off further interest from Fiorentina and Lazio.
