Luca Toni insists he bears Roma no grudge after being snubbed over a permanent deal.
The Italy striker is ready to sign with Genoa after his Bayern Munich contract was rescinded by mutual consent.
Toni said: "I am not disappointed, even if I think I did very well at Roma. They chose a striker like Adriano who has different characteristics. Perhaps he is more suited to partnering Francesco Totti than I am."
Toni also missed out on the 2010 World Cup, where the Azzurri struggled to a 1-1 draw against Paraguay.
"I am cheering on Italy, although obviously it's disappointing not to be in South Africa. Alberto Gilardino, Giampaolo Pazzini and Antonio Di Natale are great strikers.
"As always, Marcello Lippi will know the best team to pick."
