Genoa have announced the signing of Argentine pair Matias Martinez and Julian Velazquez.

Martinez is a 24-year-old centre-back from Racing Club Avellaneda. Velazquez is a 21-year-old central defender who has been with Independiente in Argentina since their youth academy.

Genoa GM Pietro Lo Monaco declared: "Martinez has secured EU status and the deal is done. We are just waiting to see how the Andreas Granqvist situation pans out first.

"As for Velazquez, we have sent back the signed copies of the documents and the Independiente directors will evaluate them. He should come to Italy next week."
