General Charles Krulak today assured Villa fans that quality signings are on the way and that Martin O'Neill will receive all the financial backing he craves this summer.

Speculation has increased that West Ham's Nigel Reo-Coker could become a Villa player for around £8million following this month's European Under-21 Championship finals.

Newcastle and Tottenham are believed to also be keen on the 23-year-old and Krulak, Randy Lerner's right-hand man, says that O'Neill will succeed in bringing top quality in.

"I have said many, many times that Randy Lerner will support Martin O'Neill in the obtaining of quality players", he said. "We will not throw money away but, if Martin says 'this is one player I need' then Randy will be there for him and our fans."
