Genclerbirligi winger James Troisi has a dream to play at a World Cup. There is no better time to be putting that dream into practice than now with the impending qualification of the Socceroos for South Africa 2010.
Currently, the 20-year old is using his time in the Turkish league with Gencler' after a stint in England with Newcastle to improve his game and hopefully move on to bigger and better things including a World Cup.
"The main reason I left Newcastle was to get regular games and now I am playing week in and week out," he said.
"I'm happy that I'm doing well and I want to keep doing well.
"One of the reasons I came to Genclerbirligi - I spoke to the chairman and the manager - is the club is a springboard. Stay here for a few seasons and then move on to bigger and better clubs.
"That is how the club survives."
For now, the Adelaide-born Troisi is concentrating on club football and hopes that will take care of his national team chances.
"Your club football is your bread and butter and so long as I keep performing week in and week out I am going to get a shot," he added.
"Going to the World Cup would be ultimate. It is the biggest thing in football.
"I used to watch the World Cups on TV and would say, yes, one day I want to go there. I just have to keep playing well.
"I am sure the Australian staff keep looking at our progress and we will see what happens."
