Gazza feeling "great" in rehab

Tottenham and Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne believes he's over the worst.

After nearly three weeks in rehab, he reckons he is well on the way to finally conquering his drink and drug demons. The upbeat Geordie told sports instructor Daryl Punnett: "I feel great - and I am determined not to let this beat me.

"Right now I am in the best place I have been for a very long time. There is still a long way to go but I feel I'm back and on the mend."

Gazza is 20 days into an intensive 28-day rehab programme at Tony Adams' Sporting Chance clinic in the grounds of Champneys Forest Mere health farm in Liphook, Hants.

Daryl told how Gazza wears a special mac to make him sweat more during keep-fit sessions.

He told the Mirror: "Paul's amazing in the gym. I'm 26 - but I can't keep up with him.

"He looks fit and healthy and must now be in his best shape physically since his playing days."
