Crystal Palace forward Dwight Gayle believes teammate Scott Dann is worthy of a call-up to the England national team.

Dann has been rock solid in the heart of the Eagles' defence so far this season and scored a vital goal in Palace's 2-1 win over Liverpool last weekend.

"He's a great player and it looks effortless to him. That's a compliment to his ability.

"I'm not sure why he has not been called up. His ability in every aspect of the game is really good. He's good on the ball, good defensively, reads the ball well and gives you everything you want in a defender.

"If he was playing at one of the bigger clubs he would definitely be around a lot more. I'm sure people will take note when a few of them get called up and they will start looking a bit further down the league."
