AC Milan legend Rino Gattuso says they should go for Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli.

Gattuso, now with FC Sion, says Balotelli and agent Mino Raiola have done well not to snap back at Milan president Silvio Berlusconi's "rotten apple" comments.

"It's been very good that Balotelli and his agent did not respond to that challenge, because if Milan can take him, AC Milan must try," said Gattuso.

"He's a great player and if he does some stupid things, who cares? The environment at Milan can help him improve."
