Gateshead sends Phil Airey back to Newcastle
Gateshead have cut short Newcastle United striker Phil Airey's loan.
The Evening Chronicle says the 20-year-old was at the International Stadium on a loan deal due to end on February 20.
He made one start and one appearance as a substitute during his brief spell south of the Tyne.
But it has ended prematurely after news emerged that United are to release the forward – along with several other young players.
