“I did rotate the squad in that game, but also fielded Sergio Floccari, Houssine Kharja and Rodrigo Palacio, who were the three most expensive signings of the summer,” pointed out Gasperini.
“If one of our objectives is to get the best out of young players, we cannot knock them down after a match like Chievo, nor hail them as superstars when they win away to Atalanta.
“Genoa are earning a certain credibility, but clearly we have to keep confirming our status with each game. Sometimes things don’t go our way, but as time goes on we can define what our objectives are as a club.
“At the moment even I don’t know what we are targeting – to get the best out of youngsters to sell them on for five times the price, to win the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia or Europa League.”
Juventus have no such qualms, as Ciro Ferrara’s squad are setting out to win it all, primarily aiming for the title.
