Former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett has emerged as the favourite to take over the reins at Hull City.
Hull sacked manager Phelan on Tuesday over a reported fall out regarding the club's transfer policy and the Tigers are currently on the lookout for a new man in charge.
Given the uncertainty surrounding Hull at the moment, not many would probably want the job at the KCOM Stadium but according to reports from the Daily Mirror, Rowett has been placed as the frontrunner to take over at the struggling Premier League side.
The former Derby County, Birmingham and Leicester City defender took over at St Andrew's in 2014 before he was unexpectedly sacked in mid-December despite the fact the Blues were sitting 7th on the Championship table.
