Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson has been assured by chairman Phil Gartside he'll be backed in the January market.

Gartside will reward Megson for a bright start at the Reebok since taking over from Sammy Lee. The Trotters - who are at Manchester City today - have lost just twice in 10 games to climb out of the relegation zone.

They have also secured impressive UEFA Cup results against Bayern Munich and Red Star Belgrade.

Megson said: "I spoke to the people that run the club and they've told me to go to them with a list of the names I would like.

"They'll see if they can bring them in. We'll have to see what happens."
