Gartside admits Coyle future lies beyond Bolton

Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside says he won't block manager Owen Coyle from moving to a bigger club.

Coyle has been linked with Celtic and Liverpool in the last 12 months.

Coyle is on the standby list for several clubs this summer as the managerial merry-go-round waits to start, but Gartside feels he will win the fight to keep the man he tempted from Burnley in January 2010 - unless a giant steps in.

Gartside revealed to the People: "If Manchester United or someone like that came on the phone, I would say 'Right, I will drive you there to meet them'.

"I am not frightened about what might happen and losing Owen. I can't stop him. But it would have to be a hell of a job to interest him.

"I know how much he enjoys his football here. He said 'no' to Celtic, and then 'yes' to us when he was at Burnley, so that tells you a lot too.

"If he gets targeted by the type of club I think will come for him one day, he would go with our blessing - and he would also have brought us success in the meantime.

"He is young, he has got a great career in front of him. Owen has a vision of what he would like - young players, good football, enthusiasm at all levels."
