Javier Garrido believes Carlos Tevez is the player to fire Manchester City into a top four berth and Champions league football next season. The Argentine hit-man netted his 22nd goal of the season in the Blues' 2-1 victory over Fulham on Sunday to take Roberto Mancini's men back into fifth spot.
"Wayne Rooney has been great for United this season. And Carlos Tevez is maybe our Rooney," he told the Manchester Evening News.
"When Carlos plays, the team respond. They feel he is one player who will always give his best."
Garrido believes City need to brace themselves for one big push during the end of season run-in.
He said: "We are in a good position, and the right frame of mind.
"Of course, we have to do well in the last few games most of which are at home. We have to be strong but it's in our own hands."
