Javi Garrido is confident he has a place in Manchester City's plans, despite the big-money arrival of ex-Chelsea left-back Wayne Bridge.
"Like any footballer, I want to play," Garrido told Marca.
"I am aware that in the winter transfer window they [City] have brought an international left back and I am at a disadvantage, but I am training and I am sure that there are games and time to be able to demonstrate my qualities.
"When they sign a player in your position, nobody likes it, but that will serve to make me more competitive.
"The objective of the club is to build a great team and for that it is necessary to have two players for every position.
"I have had a meeting with the trainer and he gave me confidence ahead of the arrival of Bridge."
