Craig Gardner has urged Aston Villa fans to make a noisy reception for UEFA Cup opponents CSKA Moscow tonight.

The midfielder told AVTV: "We need to play well and use the home tie to our advantage.

"We need our fans to get right behind the lads and sing their hearts out throughout the game - and make it a special occasion.

"We want a real cauldron of noise. Hopefully that will help us get the right result. It's a massive game - every match is for Villa now. Confidence is still sky high and we will push on and I'm sure we'll get some more good results."

Gardner also insists Villa will be well prepared for the important first leg clash.

"They are a top Russian side but we are a top Premier League club - let's not forget about that.

"We will be well prepared. We've watched a lot of DVDs and I'm sure we'll be checking out more of them before the game starts."
