Craig Gardner says he wants to try and channel former Sunderland star Kevin Phillips' deadly goalscoring knack.
The former Birmingham City man has scored just once for the Black Cats since his move in the summer and he admits he will try to look at the way former St Andrew's teammate Phillips scores at will for each of the clubs he has played for.
"Goals are an important part of my game. When you watch Kevin Phillips, he's always in the box, always gambling, and that's what I try to do," he told the club's official website.
"Balls always fall to him and he always scores because of the gambles he makes.
"It's nice to be known for scoring goals, but I want to be involved in the game as well. That's something I want to add to my game."
