Gardner dedicates first Birmingham goal to Villa playing brother Gary

Craig Gardner has dedicated his first goal for Birmingham City to kid brother Gary.

The 23-year-old Brummie, who grew up a Bluenose, moved from Aston Villa in a £4million deal in January.

Younger sibling Gary, 17, is regarded as one of the biggest prospects coming through the Villa ranks.

But Gardner junior injured his cruciate ligaments the day before Gardner senior signed for Brum.

Craig's second-half equaliser, a sweet low left-foot volley, was followed by finger pointing to every corner of the ground.

Gardner said: "I had two boxes full here today - about 20 people. I think I was pointing everywhere to find my brother.

"It was nice to score for my brother who has had a few operations on his knee. It was nice to cheer him up as well."
