Gardner deal won't end Hull's defender search

Hull City boss Phil Brown says the loan capture of Tottenham defender Anthony Gardner won't end his bid to strengthen his rearguard.

"I'm still looking for a fourth centre-back," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail. "I want two in each position across the side if I can.

"There's no guarantees that Wayne Brown or Michael Turner, for all the great work they did last year, will play either. It all depends on pre-season and what happens between now and August 16.

"Where Brownie and Michael Turner are concerned, they've advanced tremendously well since the first day they came in here.

"That was without competition last year and now they've got competition, it's up to them to step up to the plate and keep Anthony Gardner out."
