Garde to stay with Aston Villa but only if they spend up

Remi Garde has stated that he will continue as manager of Aston Villa but only if sufficient funds are provided to strengthen the squad.

While there are still 13 games remaining in the current Premier League campaign, Villa are already looked resigned to drop down to the Championship next season.

Manager Garde has now spoken regarding his future at Villa Park and has stated that he will remain put at the club next season even if the club suffer relegation, but only if he is handed the sufficient funds to mount an immediate promotion challenge.

The Frenchman said on radio station RMC: "I'm prepared to stay in this club if there are the (financial) means to go up. As everyone knows Aston Villa's a big club and very prestigious in England.

"From the outside it remains prestigious - but when you're on the inside there's much, much work to be done.

"But if I'm given the means then obviously it's a project that could interest me. That would need to be discussed again.

"At the moment we'll really start preparing for next season at the end of this season, even a little bit before, when we'll have more certainty. There's in-depth work to be done at this club."
