Aston Villa boss Remi Garde insists the club's problems run much deeper than his winless first two months in charge, reports Sky News.
Villa have not won in the league since the opening day of the season with most of the 13 new signings failing to adapt.
"My success is not here at the moment but in only two months it is difficult to solve a problem which has been accumulated for many years," said Garde.
"This is not an excuse. It's just what I see now. I am trying to do all I can with my experience and my network to change this.
"I don't want to spend too much energy on what should have happened. I was not brought in to judge what happened before. I am here to solve this problem which the club has had for quite a long time.
"Four years ago it was not the players who came in the summer who created the problem. I am not sure the players who came are the only problem in this club."
